Happy New Year.

Each year of the Gregorian calendar begins in the thick of Capricorn season, as “the light returns” but still each day (in the Northern Hemisphere), the Sun rises low and slumbers early. It is not exactly a time for new beginnings in the natural world. Nature’s qi has descended fully into the earth, and all nature’s children must enter the slow and steady rhythm of winter.

Capricorn meditates on alignment, for with alignment comes resilience, and resilience forges the strength to carry our intentions into spring and life’s eventual return. If we push, force, or rush, our alignment will falter—so in navigating the season, we align first, as much as we are able to in this moment.

With Mercury, Juno, Venus, Sun, Mars, and Vesta in Capricorn and the North Node, Saturn, and Neptune all in Pisces—Neptune itself at the potent final, “anaretic” degree of Pisces—there is a weightedness to our winter dreams. Although the past few months saw some dramatic transits hinting at possible shakeups to come, the collective heaviness many experienced in 2025 may yet again feel pronounced. We can trust, however, that change is not far away.

By the end of January, the Capricorn stellium of today will have progressed into Aquarius to be transfigured by Pluto’s purifying power. Likewise, Neptune will bid farewell to Pisces at last, dragging the collective consciousness out of its sleep. February awaits with an Aquarian eclipse (first since 2018) and our much anticipated passage through Saturn-Neptune’s gate.
